Hi all, we just posted a new video to our YouTube channel talking about an oft-requested workflow: how to convert a triangle-based model to a parametric CAD model. This is useful when you have something that you have scanned via photogrammetry (like a cell phone camera), and you would like to use that model in a parametric CAD program like Autodesk Fusion 360. Of course, you can import the triangle-based model directly into Fusion, but it kind of sits there like a lump…and this workflow shows you how to actually use that model in an interactive sense in Fusion 360. We receive requests for this all the time, so please check out this video to help you out!
Here is the software we use in the video (all are free!):
- Autodesk Meshmixer
- Instant Meshes
- Autodesk Fusion 360
- (and any sort of photogrammetry tool, if you want to create a model out of photographs like 123D Catch or a similar product, Autodesk Memento)
